TV Drama Production

This funding is for TV drama series originated and creatively led by Irish talents – directors, writers, producers

Screen Ireland aims to drive the expansion of the indigenous TV drama production sector and provide opportunities for Irish talent to develop both creatively and professionally.

Grants & Funding

You may be eligible if:

  • You are an Irish producer with a television drama series you wish to produce, with clear access to the necessary rights and prior international marketplace finance and substantial broadcaster or TV streaming service funding
  • Applications will generally express Irish culture in some way and the practical management must be primarily in Irish hands

Documentary Production: Feature Film

This funding is for documentary feature films originated and creatively led by Irish talent - directors, producers and writers

The emphasis is on feature-length, creative documentaries in English and Irish language with high cinematic production values which are capable of reaching an international audience through theatrical and festival exposure and on new platforms.

Please note that documentaries aimed at a one-hour TV slot or shorter, with little or no international appeal, will not be supported.

Animation Innovation and Immersive Development Fund

Funding that will support new innovative, high concept development and immersive storytelling projects within the Animation and Immersive Storytelling sector

Now in its fourth year, Screen Ireland / Fís Éireann and Animation Ireland, with the support of Cultural & Creative Industries Skillnet & Eirmersive is investing €430,000 in funding that will support new innovative, high concept development and immersive storytelling projects within the Animation and Immersive Storytelling sector. 

This year’s fund aims to encourage experimentation and prototyping, supporting projects across a wide range of genres and formats. 

The fund continues Screen Ireland’s ambition to highlight Ireland as a centre of excellence in animation and investing in a diverse range of skills, talent, genres and formats, fuelled by artistry and storytelling. It is designed to allow the sector to explore new opportunities offered by emerging technologies, as well as support the development of IP and new, innovative ways of storytelling.

Small Companies Administrative Rescue Process (SCARP)

A simplified restructuring process for viable small businesses facing temporary financial difficulties.

SCARP simplifies debt restructuring for viable small businesses with temporary issues. Initiated by directors, it bypasses courts with creditor approval, offering a faster and cheaper alternative to examinership to save jobs and maximize creditor value. 

Advice & Mentoring

To avail of SCARP, a company must meet the following criteria: 

  • The company must be a small or micro company as defined by the Companies Act 2014. 

  • The company is, or is likely to be, unable to pay its debts. 

  • The company must not be in liquidation and not have appointed an examiner or process adviser in the previous 5 years. 

  • If a receiver has been appointed to the company, the company is eligible only if that receiver has been appointed for a period of less than 3 working days. 

  

To avail of SCARP a company must also be fundamentally viable and capable of trading its way out of its current difficulties. Assessing the viability of the company is the first determination which the process adviser is required to make following their initial appointment by the directors of the company.

Fiction: Creative Co-Production

Funding for live-action or animated feature films originating outside Ireland in which an Irish producer (ROI) is involved as a creative collaborator

  • This funding is for live-action or animated feature films (live-action or animated TV projects are not eligible) originating outside Ireland in which an Irish producer (ROI) is involved as a creative collaborator, not merely a service producer and provider of a minority of the finance needed.
  • The film must be structured as an official co-production with third party funding from the leading territory in place and must employ key Irish talent.
  • Priority will be given to projects that utilise Ireland as a film location, depict Ireland for Ireland, and where a number of key Irish HOD's and/or Irish cast are employed. 
  • Reciprocity from funding agencies in other jurisdictions will be sought in appropriate circumstances.
